Geneviève Moreau

The investigations in this artist’s most recent works are more formal and play on the contradictions inherent in places of passage characterized by an absence of people. Sheet metal and plastic figure prominently in her purified compositions of sleepy places. Only a few traces belie a human presence.

Part of the “Vacancy” series, this work was shot during a trip that took the photographer to Rivière-du-Loup, where she fell in love with the Au Vieux Fanal motel. She has since continued to pursue an artistic exploration of the connection between nostalgia, architecture and community identity.
