Atalante alias François Hudon

A native Quebecer, François Hudon (aka Atalante) is an artist-painter based in Montreal, Quebec. Atalante graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM)with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1986. His work is based on life drawings created through observation of time lapses and space and inspired by both nature and people.

Live models are the main source of inspiration for his current work. He creates a series of vivid black-ink life drawings on Chinese paper, which are then marouflaged on canvas. The various postures assumed by a model allow him to create his unique artwork frame by frame, with complexity yet fluid superimposition following the model’s movements, in turn moving the viewer’s eyes across the images through time and imagination.
