Anne-Françoise Bélanger
Artist-painter
Anne-Françoise Bélanger is a self-taught painter trained in art experience structures under the mentorship of professional artists. She started her training in drawing and painting in 1989, and is also a psychoeducation and psychotherapy graduate.
Ms. Bélanger works on canvas and paper, using oils, acrylic, charcoal and ink, as well as large and small formats. The combination of her academic training and her artistic approach have given her both the necessary audacity to explore abstract gestures and the humility to experiment with the ambiguity of a more intuitive process. She regards her painting as expressive and abstract, with colour serving to structure the form.
A member of the Atelier du Geste de Montréal from 2013 to 2020, Ms. Bélanger was also enrolled in the painting program at the Académie des Arts de Montréal (ACADEM) from September 2017 to June 2019. She has been an active participant in Carol Bernier’s workshops in Montreal since 2018.
She holds the status of professional artist with the Regroupement des artistes en art visuel du Québec (RAAV).
