She writes for\u00a0<em>L\u2019actualit\u00e9<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Le Devoir<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Ch\u00e2telaine\u00a0<\/em>magazine, and for the public broadcaster CBC\/<em>Radio-Canada,\u00a0<\/em>among others. The author is also a professor of literature at several educational institutions: Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure de musique Marguerite Bourgeoys, Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke (AGEUM), Institut d\u2019\u00e9ducation de Constantine (Algeria), and Albuquerque University (United States).<\/p>\n\n<p>Mme Ouellette-Michalska studied at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in the mid-1960s. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al in 1978, followed by a PhD in French Studies at the Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke in 1986.<\/p>\n\n<p>Novelist, essayist and poet, she has published several bestsellers, including\u00a0<em>L\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00eele de Gr\u00e2ce, La maison Testler\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Jeux de hasard et de d\u00e9sir<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Her work has been translated into many languages and received prestigious awards, such as the M\u00e9daille d\u2019or from La Renaissance fran\u00e7aise, the Prix Arthur-Buies, the Prix Molson de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des lettres du Qu\u00e9bec, the Governor General\u2019s Award for French-language fiction, and the Prix France-Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n<p>The author has also been a member of the Acad\u00e9mie des lettres du Qu\u00e9bec since 1985.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Madeleine Ouellette-Michalska began her career as a journalist and writer at a very young age.
