Vanité #7

This work refers to the ephemeral duality between human and animal. It is part of the series entitled “Le Nord et Le Blanc,” still life representations of northern animals. This series was strongly influenced by a professional journey the artist made to northern Quebec in 2006.

Other themes that inform Yannick De Serre’s artistic aesthetic are the forces of nature, white as far as the eye can see, the predominance of the starry sky, solitude, the instinct for survival, fragility and destruction. His work is characterized by “presence in absence.”
