This sculpture depicts a rainbow held up by smiling children – a boy and a girl – with arms stretched skyward.
It provides a good representation of Roger Langevin’s artwork, which is figurative and focuses on human beings. In his words, “Added to the humanist dimension of my work is an environmental concern, in other words, sculpture based on quality of life. I seek a balance between today’s deeply distraught world and the fact that my characters evolve in a sort of ideal society.” (free translation) Source: Fisette, Serge, Roger Langevin : glossaire d’un sculpteur, Espace sculpture, Vol. 5, No. 1, 1988, p. 17.
Three other examples identical to this work exist in Montreal, Candiac and Châteauguay.
