The practice of Catherine Plaisance is characterized by an investigation primarily centred on the aesthetic of catastrophe. Her recent work employs miniature modeling to create scenes in which the landscape has been perturbed by an event that has disrupted the normal state.

As part of the Désordre series, this photo was created from a landscape built according to a scale of 1:87. It depicts a house in a wooded area, beside a river of black water filled with floating debris on its surface. This landscape raises questions as to its future, as to what could have happened and what might happen next.
