Commemorative plaque honouring André Bourbeau

Memorial Plaque to honnor the long contribution made by this former Saint-Lambert mayor and seasoned municipal politician

This commemorative plaque found in Seaway Park pays tribute to André Bourbeau, an influential political figure in Saint-Lambert’s history. He became a municipal councillor for the City in 1970, and was elected mayor eight years later, a position he held until 1981. He then served as a Member of Quebec’s National Assembly until 2003, becoming the Minister of Finance in the government of Daniel Johnson (son) in 1994. It was through the efforts of Mr. Bourbeau that the Ville de Saint-Lambert acquired land from the St. Lawrence Seaway and the former École Saint-Michel. The Marsil Museum was also created thanks to him. Mr. Bourbeau was awarded the title of Knight of the Ordre national du Québec and named a Member of the Order of Canada.

He died in March 2018, leaving behind him a rich legacy in Saint-Lambert. At the request of several citizens wishing to underscore the long contribution made by this former Saint-Lambert mayor and seasoned municipal politician, the Ville de Saint-Lambert decided to erect a monument in his honour. This plaque was inaugurated at Seaway Park in honour of André Bourbeau, on Friday, June 7, 2019.
