Oil and acrylic painter

Christine Larouche is a self-taught painter who works with oils and acrylics on canvas and paper, in big and small formats. Influenced by abstract art and members of the Refus Global, in the 1980s she joined the classes/workshops of Frère Jérôme, a prominent figure in the world of abstract art. From 1986 to 1988, she took painting classes at the Centre des arts visuels de Westmount, as well as sculpture and ceramics classes, which added greater depth and openness to her artistic process.

Fantasy and reality inspire what Ms. Larouche seeks to convey in her artwork, where both are rendered, be it as a moment in time, a person, a human experience or a unique and very personal visual experience. Since 2014, she has been involved as a volunteer in the South Shore section of the organization Les Impatients. The art therapy approach it offers to the participants aligns with her openness to the idea of art for all.
